Thank you Jen for your dedication and service to making Parish Day School a wonderful place to work and play!
How did you decide to get into the field of early childhood education?
Ever since I was a child I have wanted to be a teacher. I am from a big family with a lot of cousins. I am one of the older children of my family and was always helping out with babysitting and parties. I enjoy being around children. It brings me great joy to know I am part of their educational journey and am helping set a positive foundation of learning and being creative.
Why did you want to teach at Parish Day School?
I decided to take a break from teaching when my daughter was born and my son was starting kindergarten. Once she was older and in school I started helping our neighbor out dropping their son off at Parish Day School. Going back and forth and talking with the teachers I remembered how much I had missed teaching. It was the perfect time and perfect fit to come back to teaching.
Do you have a role model or hero that inspired you?
My kindergarten teachers were a big inspiration to me and were part my decision in becoming a teacher. Along the way I have met so many special teachers that have taught me and shared many techniques.
What do you bring to Parish Day School that makes you unique?
I believe each day is a new day. It is so important to have flexibility and be able to adapt to each child’s learning. I bring a fun attitude and positive energy that I hope helps create excitement in learning for the children.
What is your teaching philosophy?
To know each child as an individual and to strive to meet each child’s needs. To set a fun and safe environment for the children to explore and be their best selves.
What is your favorite thing about being a part of the Parish Day Team?
The Parish Day School team is like your 2nd family. Everyone works together for the growth of the children. I love that the connections you have with the children and the families continue even after your school year has ended.
Do you have a favorite time of year at Parish Day School?
All of them! Every day is an adventure but if I had to pick one it would be spring time. Spring has so much to offer and a lot of exploring outside and experiencing nature (which I love). By the spring you see so much growth in the children and all the new friendships they have made. To know you were a part of that brings so much joy!
Do you have a favorite quote or motto?
Patience is Key!
