Getting to watch our little learners grow and play is our favorite thing about being Early Childhood Educators. We get to be part of a child's earliest learning moments and
experience the inquiry, exploration, wonder, and joy, right alongside of them, as they learn something new. Around here, play is our students work. It is purposeful and essential to their development.

We know that play engages children in ways that benefit their brain development, develops their critical thinking and memory, helps them role play to build relationships, develops social skills, confidence, and encourages their creativity through imagination. Our goal during play is for students to be actively participating, enjoying themselves, and following their creativity, imaginations, and interests.
While the children play, our teachers are asking questions, guiding inquiry, expanding their vocabulary, teaching social and emotional skills, and assessing a child's development. It isn't uncommon to walk through our preschool and see messy play with sand or water, play dough play, open ended toys allowing for imaginary play, lots of singing, story time, tons of hand-on activities, and opportunities to explore through games.
May we all learn how to play throughout our day. May we all have the wonder and enjoyment that we did when we were children. May we all encourage others and help make the world a better place. May we all learn that these little moments, do truly become the big moments of our lives. Amen
